Orders from China usually have a slightly longer shipping time than you are used to from German shops. A shipment tracking is all the more helpful. It provides information on whether the goods are already on their way and when delivery can be expected. For which orders a shipment tracking is possible and how you can track them, we clarify in our article.
Which orders from China can I track?
Not all orders in Chinese online shops can be tracked using shipment tracking. For this it needs a tracked or insured shipping. As a rule, during the ordering process you can select a shipping method that offers tracking. The popular China shop AliExpress, for example, shows an overview of shipping methods directly on the item page, including information on whether tracking is possible. With very few exceptions, you will also receive a tracking number if you choose insured shipping from a retailer. As a rule, shipping with a tracking number costs a surcharge, but is partly included in the inexpensive shipping method, as it also offers the retailer security.
Who will deliver my international order?
According to paulsourcing, 90% of the shipment tracking inquiries come from insured (Registered Air Mail) orders from 3 major Chinese parcel services.
China Post (China Post Group Corporation)
The best-known Chinese parcel service is the state-owned company and the official Chinese postal service. China Post shipments are coordinated directly from Beijing. In the next few, China Post is likely to be among the 100 largest companies in the world. You can find a China Post shipment tracking in German.
The shipping company 4PX is one of the Chinese service companies for e-commerce, that is, also for online shops such as Wish or Amazone. If you order your goods from a Chinese online shop, you can use the 4PX shipment tracking.
Yun Express has become one of the largest parcel service in China. In Germany, the parcel service is known for its cooperation with DHL. The transport to a German airport (mostly Frankfurt) is very reliable and relatively quick. From then on, DHL or another cooperation partner usually takes over the shipment and delivers it.
If you have opted for shipping with tracking or insured shipping, you will usually only receive your individual tracking number with a slight delay. This is because the retailer first has to request such an ID from the logistician and only knows the final volume and weight when an order is packed. In most China shops, these processes are automated. If you do not receive any information about the shipment number by email 3 days after ordering or you cannot see it in the customer account, you can just ask the respective China dealer once.
Where can I track my order from China?
Not all China Shops offer shipment tracking in the customer account. Often only the shipment number is communicated by email. You can then use this to track the order on the website of the respective logistics company until it arrives in Germany. The websites of the Chinese Post Office or other Asian logistics companies such as Yun Express are often without a German language version and unfortunately not always in English.
If you order a lot in China, you will always have to deal with other parcel senders. Either, depending on the size and weight of the shipment, another shipper is cheaper or the retailer chooses the most suitable parcel service provider himself. The parcel service changes frequently from one China order to the other. This applies in particular to orders on marketplaces such as DHgate or AliExpress.
If you do not want to track your China shipments separately to all the logistics companies commissioned, but on just one website, online services. They enable the tracking of different parcel services on just one platform. The system uses the shipment number to automatically identify which logistician an order was sent with. After the consignment number has been recognized, you have access to relevant data such as the time of dispatch, handover to the national logistician or the delivery. The website is in German and the shipment information can also be translated into German.
