Best travel time to Mallorca

Posted on May 7, 2021May 7, 2021 by programingplease

The summer is hot and the winter mild: Thanks to the Mediterranean climate on Mallorca , the largest of the Balearic Islands is ideal for a relaxing holiday all year round. Depending on what you are planning to do on your Mallorca vacation , a different season is the best time to travel to Mallorca . If you want to spend a beach holiday with blazing sun, little to no precipitation and warm sea water, the summer months are best for a Mallorca holiday. But spring is also a popular season for a holiday on the Balearic Island.

Best time to travel Mallorca in the monthly overview

Best travel time for a beach holiday in Mallorca

For a wonderful beach holiday in Mallorca is suitable summer months of May, June, July, August and September the best. With an average of ten to eleven hours of sunshine a day, you have guaranteed sunshine and almost no rain. A warm water temperature of 20 to 27 degrees Celsius invites you to have a lot of bathing fun. Also because of the summer holidays , most of the holidaymakers come to Mallorca in the summer months. Therefore, both the beaches and the Mallorca hotels and other accommodations are overcrowded. If you prefer to spend a quiet holiday on Mallorca, it makes sense to go to beaches that are a bit away from mass tourism lie. Examples are the six kilometer long Es Trenc beach or Es Carbò in the south of Mallorca. You can find more quiet stretches of beach in Sant Elm, at Cala Llombards or Cala Santanyi. An overview of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca can be found in my travel magazine. Renting a finca is also recommended for a quiet beach holiday in Mallorca. The fincas on Mallorca are mostly located on stretches of coast away from tourism and give you a wonderful summer vacation. Due to the advantages that the summer months bring to Mallorca, this travel time is the most popular, which attracts many holidaymakers and overpriced hotels. So if you are looking for a different type of holiday than a beach holiday on Mallorca, for example a hiking or sightseeing holiday, it makes sense to avoid the summer months.

Best travel time for hiking, sightseeing tours and exploring the island

Exploring Mallorca by rental car is a popular form of travel on the Balearic island. According to shopareview, the island has many hidden bays, eventful mountains and stalactite caves, historical buildings and sites to be discovered. The low season is best for hikers and culture enthusiasts. In spring and autumn Mallorca is not too crowded with tourists. However, the weather is stable and warm. The Balearic Island is particularly beautiful in spring when nature is in bloom. With only five rainy days in March and April , you don’t have to worry about rain showers. You can make wonderful sightseeing and trekking tours or excursions by bike. Even the Majorcan winter has its charms. It’s not nearly as cool here as in Austria. Walks along the beach, sightseeing tours and wellness vacations are wonderful in the months of November, December, January and February.

Climate in Mallorca

The climate in Mallorca is Mediterranean due to its location in the western Mediterranean . As is typical for Europe, the seasons are divided into summer and winter on the Balearic Island. The summer months from May to September are characterized by a lot of sunshine and little rainfall. Nine to eleven hours of sunshine a day and temperatures around 23 to 31 degrees Celsius are the rule in the summer months. In the hottest months of July and August, temperatures can reach 40 degrees at noon. From mid-October autumn on Mallorca shows itself with heavy rain showers at times. In the winter months from November to March it cools down a bit, but the climate is mild with an average daytime temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and the sun comes out frequently. At night it can cool down to six degrees Celsius. With an average of only six to eight rainy days per month , the amount of precipitation is low even in winter and enables a wonderful holiday in the Balearic Islands.

The weather in Mallorca is mild all year round. The first warm rays of sunshine come out in spring and, with eight to eleven hours of sunshine per day, bring you 20 degrees Celsius in April and up to 27 degrees Celsius in June. On average it rains very little on Mallorca. In the months of March to May you can expect an average of five rainy days per month. With an average daily temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, the summer months of July, August and September are the warmest. But also in June and until mid-October you can look forward to warm temperatures and little to no rainfall. Autumn will begin in mid-October especially noticeable in the northwest of the island. The rainfall is particularly evident in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. The eastern areas, on the other hand, remain mostly dry. The coldest months on Mallorca are January and February with around 15 degrees Celsius by day and six degrees Celsius by night. With five to six hours of sunshine per day, the sun is still more frequent than in the middle and in northern Europe. The probability of rain is low, with six to eight rainy days a month, even in the winter months. Thus, the main Balearic island is suitable for a relaxing holiday at any time of the year.

The best time to travel to Mallorca are from April to September , as they are the warmest months on the Balearic island. The summer months are particularly recommended for a beach holiday. Those who like to hike and explore the island are better off in the off-season. The climate allows you great sightseeing trips in Mallorca in both spring and autumn . Even in winter , a package tour to Mallorca is worthwhile. It is a lot warmer on the Balearic Island than in Austria. So you can wonderfully avoid the frost in the winter months with mild temperatures around 15 degrees Celsius .
